Dr. Katie Burmeister
Dr. Burmeister first fully experienced
chiropractic in a personal way as a
teenager. After a car accident, it was
difficult for her to walk, due to a low back
injury. She was taken to see Dr. Stanley
Timm, the family chiropractor, and after a
couple of adjustments, she was able to
walk without difficulty! It was at this time,
she knew that she wanted to be a
chiropractor.
As well as contributing to the
community through her healing talents,
Dr. Burmeister is also an active
member of the local Rotary club.  As a
child, she was involved with the club
was a member both locally and on a
global level.  Her family hosted several
exchange students from various
countries, as well as a crippled child
from Belize
.
Dr. Burmeister is following in her
father's footsteps, having completed a
year as president of the club in 2008,
and hosting a crippled child, Alberto,
from Belize for a year in her home.
She is also the chairman of the local
Festival of Trees, held at Heritage
Woods, that provides entertainment for
the community, and helps create a
holiday atmosphere for the elderly who
live there
.

After completing her undergraduate
studies at SIU, Dr. Burmeister enrolled
in Palmer Chiropractic College in
Davenport, IA, where she focused on
pediatrics and women's health issues.
Upon graduation in 2000, she
practiced in Seattle, WA for two years
with Dr. Jerry Dreessen.  In summer
2002,  and two children later, she and
her husband realized that Flora was
where they wanted to open a practice
and raise their family.
